The Holy Rosary

The Holy Rosary is made up of two things: mental prayer and vocal prayer. In the Holy Rosary mental prayer is none other than meditation of the chief mysteries of the life, death and glory of Jesus Christ and of His Blessed Mother. Vocal prayer consists in saying twenty decades of the Hail Mary, each decade headed by an Our Father, while at the same time meditating on and contemplating the twenty principal virtues, which Jesus and Mary. Practiced in the twenty mysteries of the Holy Rosary.

How to pray the Rosary

On the Crucifix: Make the Sign of the Cross and say the Apostle’s Creed

First Bead: Say the Our Father

Next 3 Beads: Say three Hail Mary’s then Glory Be.

Next Single bead: Announce the first Mystery then say the Our Father

Then: Say ten Hail Mary’s while meditating on the mystery then Glory Be

Next Big bead: Announce the second Mystery then say the Our Father and repeat the prayers in the same manner.

After each mystery: O My Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls into heaven; especially those who are in most need of thy mercy (After the glory be to the father).

Luminous Mysteries

  1. The Baptism of our Lord in the river Jordan.
  2. The wedding at Cana, when Christ manifested Himself

  4. The Transfiguration of our Lord.
  5. The Last Supper, when our Lord gave us the Holy Eucharist.

Sorrowful Mysteries

  1. Agony of our Lord
  2. Scourging at the pillar
  3. Crowning with thorns
  4. Jesus carries his Cross
  5. Crucifixion of our Lord.

Glorious Mysteries

  1. Resurrection
  2. Ascension
  3. Descent of the Holy Spirit
  4. Assumption of our Blessed Mother
  5. Coronation of our Blessed Mother.

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy; hail our life, our sweetness and our hope! To you do we cry poor banished children of Eve; to you do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears, turn then O most gracious advocate, your eyes of mercy towards us; and after this our exile, show unto us the Blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus. O Clement, O Loving, O Sweet Virgin Mary.

The Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary that never was it known to anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help or sought your Intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, we fly unto you, O Virgin of Virgins, our Mother, to you do we come, before you we kneel, sinful and sorrowful. O mother of Word Incarnate, despise not our petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer us. Amen.

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As It was in the Beginning is now, and ever shall be world without end. Amen.
